As we head into the "financial chapters" in our class, I found an interesting article on the Chicago Tribune discussing whether annual reports should include the company's efforts in corporate responsibility. Please read the Tribune article here:

In particular, I'm interested in what you think about this comment:
Companies are adding to their annual reports corporate social responsibility sections, which detail their community reinvestment and commitment to the environment, Greenberg said
Do you think that this corporate social responsibility is becoming more important to investors? If you believe that it is important to investors do you believe that this is something that will continue to be important? If so, why? If not, why not?

As an invester i would look at corporate social responsibility based on the fact that
people look at this type of stuff. Charity not only make your company look good by
giving back to the people but also help promote there company by putting their
companies name out there. If companies decided to stop caring about CSR then the
people will stop caring to buy there product. You must give back to the people who are
keeping you in business, so as an invester i would look at stuff like CSR because is
shows that the company is giving back to there consumers. I believe that CSR will
greatly increase due to lack of advertising and consumers will always like knowing that
the companies are thinking of us.
I believe corporate social responsibility is in some ways important to the investors. we know a lot of investors mainly care about the money. But to keep the money coming you need to keep the consumer happy because in the end they are the ones keeping you in business so i think the investors have no choice but care about corporate social responsibility. and why not make a quality product thats good for your consumer?
I think CSR is becoming more important to many investors as it is becoming more common social issue. Negative issue on CSR can change the status of a company with one day. As Mchazen mentioned, of course there are investors who are driven by profit/money and so as some consumers. However, if a company wants to establish and or maintain certain status in this society, I think CSR is an inevitable issue which companies have to deal with.
CSR is beginning to merge with the ability to profit. Consumers are becoming more and more eco-friendly, and aiming towards that direction can bring in more investors whether they desire a high amount or Corporate social responsibility or not.
As I learned from my dad, one of the biggest group of investors in the world is those who just invest in mutual funds, and as I also learned, it is possible to decide exactly which stocks your mutual funds will buy into based on certain criteria. I then learned that one of those criteria has to do with company's social responsibility and the positive or negative image that the company portrays (Such as: using sweatshops, philanthropic spending, or other charitable issues) So it is very important to a lot of investors that their money go to companies with good moral make up.
I agree that now a day social reposibility become big issue for investers becasue most investers want to make money not gives away their money. What they want is benefit from what they invested for company.
